GLENN HEIGHTS — The Glenn Heights Citizens Police Advisory Committee is scheduled to meet at 6 p.m. Monday, August 3rd in the City Council Chambers at Glenn Heights City Hall to discuss community policing initiatives, including domestic violence response procedures, code enforcement issues and upcoming public engagement opportunities.
The committee is expected to approve the minutes of its July meeting before discussing items focused on public safety, community involvement, and police outreach.
One significant agenda item is a review of the Police Department’s domestic violence response and reporting procedures. The committee is scheduled to discuss officer responsibilities, mandatory reporting requirements, victim resources and follow-up procedures during investigations.
The committee will also review city ordinances related to vehicles blocking sidewalks and abandoned vehicles. The discussion is expected to cover current enforcement procedures, departmental responsibilities and the frequency of enforcement.
Other items on the agenda focus on increasing public participation with the Police Department. Members are set to discuss opportunities for residents to participate in police ride-alongs, plans for the department’s next Citizens Police Academy and ideas for additional community engagement programs.
The committee will also consider rescheduling its September meeting, which falls on Labor Day, review how members access city ordinances through the CivicPlus platform and begin planning for National Night Out, scheduled for Oct. 6.
The meeting is open to the public. Residents who wish to speak during public comment may address the committee on any topic by completing a comment form before the meeting begins. Individual comments are limited to three minutes. Under the Texas Open Meetings Act, the committee may not deliberate or take action on items that are not posted on the agenda.
