01
Separation of advertising and editorial operations
Glenn Heights Future keeps advertising decisions separate from
editorial judgment. The acceptance, rejection, placement or value
of an advertisement does not determine whether a business,
organization, public official or issue receives news coverage.
Editorial staff and contributors are expected to report fairly and
independently regardless of whether the subject of coverage is a
current, former or prospective advertiser.
02
Advertising does not guarantee news coverage
Purchasing advertising, sponsorships or business directory
listings does not guarantee an article, interview, photograph,
event listing, endorsement or social media post.
Likewise, declining to advertise with Glenn Heights Future will
not prevent a business, organization or individual from receiving
appropriate news coverage.
03
Advertisers may not review or approve news stories
Advertisers and sponsors may not review, edit, approve or suppress
independent news coverage before publication.
Glenn Heights Future may contact any person, business or
organization for comment, clarification or factual verification as
part of normal reporting. That process does not provide editorial
control or approval rights.
04
Sponsored and paid content will be clearly labeled
Paid advertisements, sponsored messages, paid announcements and
other commercial material will be clearly distinguished from
independent journalism.
Labels may include terms such as “Advertisement,” “Sponsored,”
“Paid Content,” “Paid Announcement” or another description that
makes the commercial nature of the material clear to readers.
Sponsored material may not be presented in a manner designed to
mislead readers into believing it is independent news reporting.
05
Political advertising
Political advertising may be accepted at the discretion of Glenn
Heights Future and must comply with applicable federal, state and
local laws.
Political advertisements must clearly identify the person,
campaign, committee or organization responsible for the
advertisement when required by law.
Acceptance of political advertising does not constitute an
endorsement by Glenn Heights Future, its publisher, editors,
reporters or contributors.
06
Advertising standards
Glenn Heights Future may reject, remove or request changes to
advertising that is false, misleading, deceptive, defamatory,
discriminatory, unlawful or inconsistent with the publication’s
standards.
Advertising may also be declined when it could reasonably confuse
readers, undermine the credibility of the publication or create an
unacceptable conflict with the mission of independent local
journalism.
Acceptance of one advertisement does not require Glenn Heights
Future to accept similar advertising in the future.
07
Advertiser responsibility
Advertisers are responsible for the accuracy, legality and
ownership of all claims, images, logos, trademarks, links and other
materials submitted for publication.
Advertisers must have the legal authority to use all submitted
content and must not knowingly provide material that infringes the
rights of another person or organization.
08
Corrections and changes to advertisements
Requests to correct or revise paid advertising will be handled
separately from corrections to independent editorial content.
Glenn Heights Future will make reasonable efforts to correct
advertising errors caused by the publication. Additional fees may
apply when changes are requested after an advertisement has been
approved, scheduled or published.
09
Business directory listings
Inclusion in a paid or complimentary business directory does not
constitute an endorsement, certification or recommendation by
Glenn Heights Future.
Directory placement does not affect editorial coverage, and
directory participants remain subject to the same reporting
standards as any other business or organization.
10
Founding partners and sponsors
Founding partners, sponsors and other supporters may receive
recognition, advertising placement or benefits specifically
described in their sponsorship agreement.
Those benefits do not include control over news coverage,
guaranteed favorable reporting, advance access to unpublished
stories or the ability to prevent publication.
11
Conflicts of interest
Glenn Heights Future will disclose material relationships when
necessary to help readers understand a potential conflict of
interest.
When the publication, publisher or a contributor has a meaningful
financial or personal connection to the subject of a story,
appropriate disclosure or editorial safeguards may be used.
12
Final approval and policy enforcement
Glenn Heights Future retains final authority over the approval,
placement, scheduling, labeling and removal of all advertising and
sponsored material.
The publication may update this policy as its advertising program,
operations and legal obligations evolve.
